Alex Kava’s latest installment starring FBI Profiler Maggie O’Dell and Assistant Director Cunningham is an interesting and entertaining read that includes a possible life and death dilemma for our heroine.

Since this is, at its’ core, a police drama, it is only fitting that the story begins with a box of donuts. As O’Dell selects her favorite, chocolate covered of course, AD Cunningham spots an envelope in the bottom of the box. The note inside sends O’Dell and Cunningham to the address of a “crash,” however, upon arrival the agents quickly realize they have run, headlong into a well laid trap. They had expected a bomb, what they found was much more terrifying. A mother near death and her daughter not far behind, both infected by a deadly virus that had to be intentionally introduced. Who would do such a thing? And why? Because the agents were exposed to the virus, they were hurriedly quarantined,  placed in an isolation ward, at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease. (USAMRIID) Not only has Agent O’Dell never matched wits with such a cunning foe, but she must find the murderer while locked in an isolation cell, with only her experience, a telephone and a computer, all this while pondering her own mortality.

This killer seems to have thought of everything and is one, maybe two or three steps, ahead. Carefully choosing his victims so they appear random and unrelated, leaving false clues to frustrate and hamper the investigation…it was all part of his arcane plot to rid the world of everyone that wronged him. Even though his identity is revealed early on, he blends like a chameleon with his environment, allowing him to hide in plain sight and maneuver much closer than anyone imagined. The admiring apprentice is a mystery and he is kept in the shadows right to the very end. Together, this duo unleashes a campaign of murder and terror that plays on our darkest fears.

A killer seeking revenge, with a “god complex,” an apprentice with a deep respect for his master’s craft, utilizing a highly contagious, easily transmitted disease as their weapon of choice, each with a signature delivery accredited to a famous killer from the past…there’s something on every page to make you want to read the next! Thrilling to the very last satisfying word, with a few secondary story-lines left teetering at the end to give readers something to look forward too in future novels. Alex Kava’s Exposed is a solid suspense thriller that tingles, tempts and terrorizes!

Happy Reading!
