What’s Happening – -
For the most part, people want to get involved, we want to do something to make a difference,
we just don’t know what to do or how…Thanks to modern technology and instant communications
we can participate in a variety of National Campaigns simply by adding a banner to our blog,
signing a petition, joining a group or changing our profile picture to a special clip art for a few
days….At any given time there are numerous programs and campaigns – it would be
impossible to list them all – However, we will make every effort to feature programs
related to reading, literacy, safety, family, education, creativity, imagination, etc….

World Aids Day – December 1, 2009
World AIDS Day, observed December 1 each year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
HIV/AIDS has been a global epidemic for more than 27 years. Most of today’s youth have never known a world without it. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently published national HIV incidence (new infections) that showed much higher numbers that previous estimates. The time is now. Together, we can prevent the spread of this pandemic – through awareness, care, prevention, education and research.
On December 1st, individuals and organizations will recognize World AIDS Day. This year’s theme is leadership – from all sectors, including government, but also leaders among individuals and families, communities, non-profits and other organizations. The question is not should you participate, but how can you? Both NIDA and AIDS.gov recognize the leadership of Bloggers Unite and invite bloggers to join them in their mission to prevent and stop the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Human Rights Day – December 10, 2009
Celebrate Human Rights Day and stand up with people all over the world who want to make human rights a reality for everyone.
Human Rights Day marks the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) adopted on December 10, 1948 that set down the basic principles at the very heart of the human rights movement. The UDHR has enabled remarkable progress in human rights, inspiring international human rights standards, laws and institutions that have improved the lives of many around the world.
The day is a high point in the calendar of United Nations and is normally marked by both high-level political conferences and meetings and by cultural events and exhibitions dealing with human rights issues. Many non-profit organizations and human rights activists also schedule special events to commemorate the day. Look out for events in your community!

Stop Human Trafficking….
The Blue Heart Campaign
Virtually every country By wearing/displaying the Blue Heart, everyone can raise awareness of this crime and join the campaign to fight it. The Blue Heart represents the sadness of those who are trafficked while reminding us of the cold-heartedness of those who buy and sell fellow human beings. The use of the blue UN colour also demonstrates the commitment of the United Nations to combating this crime against human dignity.
