Developmental Milestones of Early Literacy, written by pediatricians, provides guidance for parents and doctors on appropriate book-related behaviors for ages 6 months – 5 years.

When loving parents share books with them, children will develop an early positive attachment to books. The Developmental Milestones Chart outlines the motor and cognitive skill development — related to reading — at various age ranges. Also included are tips for parents to aid in the development of the child’s attachment to books and reading skills.
